Our Efforts in Myanmar
Since 2017, Catalyste+ has been working in Myanmar to deliver inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives. We build the capacity of farmers and small businesses in agriculture, a sector that employs 70% of the country’s workforce. Our efforts increase competitiveness by promoting innovative practices and collaborative community economic development. Gender equality and growth that works for everyone is what drives us.
Our Focus
Strengthening Agribusiness
Our Accelerating Women’s Empowerment program is focused on women’s empowerment in the vegetable value chain. Technical assistance helps farmers improve crop management and production, and increase their access to markets. Our work also advances sustainable aquaculture and strengthens the harvesting and marketing of oil crops.
How We’ve Made a Difference in Myanmar
▪ The Central Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development strengthened their capacity to build an enabling environment for private sector growth.
▪ Farmers and government staff learned safe, environmentally friendly ways to manage pesticide use, increasing the value of their produce.
▪ We helped develop a central rubber market so that rubber farmers and producers in one of the world’s largest producing countries could better access market and employment opportunities.
