CCEDM

The devastating impact of COVID-19 on Caribbean economies has heightened the need for economic diversification. The crisis reinforced the need for government effectiveness and efficiency in addressing socioeconomic inequalities and accelerating economic recovery. Through the Canada-CARICOM Expert Deployment Mechanism (CCEDM), we’re working across the Caribbean to address priority needs identified by national governments while supporting countries in their efforts to strengthen and diversify local economies, build strong, climate-resilient communities, and reduce gender and economic inequalities.

Program Focus

Through this demand-driven and responsive project funded by Global Affairs Canada, we provide technical assistance to enhance governance. We strengthen the capacity of government ministries, departments, agencies and parastatals to respond to local development priorities.

Our efforts help integrate gender equality and environmental sustainability in policies, regulations and practices. We support the design of strong entrepreneurial ecosystems and regional networks to stimulate trade and a diverse and competitive economy. By building capacity in areas that include strategic planning, results-based management, finance and human resources, we support public institutions to better manage their own development and realize their goals of inclusive growth.

The Change We Bring

Working together for enhanced governance and the development, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programs, we’re promoting social development and resilient economic growth throughout the Caribbean community.

At the end of Year 3, 94% of surveyed participants reported a positive perception of Canada’s expertise and leadership in the region.
