Canadian experts receive medal for dedicated and committed service for developing businesses and stronger economies in Canada and the world.

Jan. 23, 2019 – CESO is congratulating 11 of its expert volunteer advisors for receiving the prestigious Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers for their work in improving the lives of women, men and children in Canada and around the world.

Awarded by the Governor General of Canada, the medal is given to Canadians who promote and embody values of volunteerism to build a better and more caring future.

“I am delighted to extend my congratulations to all CESO Volunteer Advisors who were awarded the medal. They represent a community of our Volunteer Advisors who generously share their expertise and time to transform the lives of many around the world and in Canada,” says Wendy Harris, CESO President and CEO.

“In addition to helping people improve their lives and supporting the development of stronger economies, each of our CESO recipients has acted as a distinguished Canadian representative in the countries and communities where they worked,” Harris adds.

Among the recipients is Roger Wheelock, of Victoria, B.C., a CESO volunteer for five years completing more than 15 assignments in Asia, the Americas and northern Canada.

CESO partner Rebecca Wiersma, Chair, Treasure Beach Cluster Group, says, “We cherished our time with Mr. Wheelock and look forward to his next visit with great anticipation knowing we will, once again, learn from him and more importantly be inspired by him.” She says he is committed to promoting sustainable tourism practices while enhancing economic opportunities, especially for women and youth.
