CESO Perspective: Leveraging Interconnections
In May 2016, Global Affairs Canada launched a three-month public consultation to review the country’s international assistance policy and funding framework. The objective was to collect recommendations on how Canada can improve its approach, investments and partnerships to allow for more innovative and effective responses to the new global challenges and opportunities.
Our team at CESO put together a comprehensive response that outlines our organization’s vision for Canada’s approach to international development. I am very proud to share it with all of you. Below is an excerpt from the document:
Based on our lengthy experience in development, we have learned that much of the best practices, learnings and innovation come out of the intersections and overlaps, whether they be between international and national efforts (with Canadian Indigenous communities), between social and economic development, between individual or systemic work, between private sector development and institutional strengthening, and the many other connections and intersections. If we’re going to maximize development impact and results, we need to leverage the interconnections to achieve sustainable change.
