This video details the experience of the Governor’s Office in the Province of Dornod, Mongolia in developing, negotiating, implementing and evaluating Local Cooperation Agreements with Mining Companies. It highlights how the funds from the agreements contribute to local economic and social development.
This video was shown at the Inter-governmental Forum on Mining, Metals and Minerals Annual General Meeting in Geneva on 8 November, 2023. MERIT’s Tuul Tuvshinbaatar delivered a presentation MERIT’s success in connecting local government and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) operators, mostly women, to the mining supply chain using the Local Cooperation Agreements to negotiate procurement opportunities with mining companies.
